Will I have to cancel my surgery if I took Melatonin before a Breast Augmentation?

Question

My surgery is on Friday (6 days) i have stopped everything for several weeks, but for whatever reason I just now saw the Melatonin listed as a 'do not take' and to be honest I always forget I take it at night, so it never crossed my mind. I am going to call them on Monday and of course inform them, but does that make me a non surgical candidate?

Always inform your surgeon. Melatonin is fine to take before any cosmetic surgery and I would not worry about it. Good luck

You should be able to have your surgery as taking Melatonin is not a contraindication. However, it's best to notify your plastic surgeon and make a well informed decision. Best of luck!

In my practice, taking melatonin
does not make you a non-surgical candidate.  It is much more important to avoid blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin and anti-inflammatory agents (eg advil).

Melatonin should not result in a cancellation of your surgery. Your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon should have discussed your current medications and advised you  regarding what to continue to take and/or what should be avoided. You should contact your Surgeon for a review.
