I have seen two different doctors and each recommended a different type of steroid injection for a scar. One said they would do one with 5-FU. The second doctor said they would use Kenalog. When I asked the second doctor about 5-FU they said that it is only used for keloid scars. I do not have a Keloid scar. It is a slightly raised scar so it would be hypertrophic. Does the type of scar dictate what type of steroid is used or are they interchangeable? For reference scar is in lip.
