For the first 24-48 hours After Treatment you should Avoid any dark staining drinks like Tea, Coffee, Red Wine, colored soft or alcoholic drinks and fruit juice. Vodka should be fine. The acidic nature of flavored water may make the teeth more sensitive but will should not effect the whitening. Avoid all dark staining foods like bolognaise, soy sauce, red meat, chocolate and all fruit except bananas. Avoid any foods or drinks that would leave a stain on a white shirt. No Smoking for 24 hours, smoking a cigarette within the first 24 Hours will stain your teeth. Ask your dentist about smoking cessation! Additionally, Avoid colored toothpaste or Mouthwash for 24 hours.
Any clear liquids should be fine to drink after teeth whitening. Avoid red sauce, red wines and dark liquids as well.All the best,

I would have to see your teeth in person, but to answer your question-- Yes. There is usually a way to polish and smooth teeth to make them look and feel smooth and shiny again!
My guess is that the nerve of this tooth is dying. It probably has been changing color and your teeth whitening highlighted the discoloration. The lesion on the gum is probably a fistula. I would advise testing for vitality and possible Root Canal Therapy.
I agree with the other dentist, I also have not had much success trying to whiten a single dark tooth as a result of trauma. You may have to consider a veneer or crown to correct this condition. Good luck
