Is masturbation after Breast Augmentation OK?

I had my BA last Thursday (March 27, 2014) and I'm really wanting to engage in sexual activities but I understand it may elevate my blood pressure and heart rate. Masturbation seems as if it doesn't require much of an elevated heart rate since I'm just laying there....is it ok to do this?

Frequently patients ask about sexual intercourse after surgery. My typical responses this may occur starting about two weeks after the procedure. In regards to self-satisfaction I would say that this can start anywhere from 3 to 4 days after surgery. Each patient must be evaluated  individually based on their progress. Thank you for your question.  I generally recommend waiting until all the swelling is down before engaging in sexual activity including masturbation.  So typically two weeks would be fine. However, I would not recommend a lot breast manipulation as part of your sexual activities until you are closer to six weeks.

You need to discuss this with your PS.  You run the risk of a hematoma if you engage in activities that are too vigorous too soon.

Please speak to your Plastic Surgeon.  Some light activity, such as walking after one week is generally acceptable, but I tend to ask my patient to refrain from full sexual activity for two weeks.   If you think you are going to experience a big spike in blood pressure, it may be best to hold off for a few more days.   Its best to speak to the surgeon who performed your surgery for clarification.

The idea is not to raise your blood pressure.  Try not to engage in activities which would stimulate your pressure to rise and definitely discuss with your plastic surgeon!

Please discuss with your surgeon. In general common sense prevails. if if doesn't hurt, it is most likely fine.  If it hurts, don't do it.
