I have a cyst on my butt near the anus that hasn't gone away, I've had 2 cultures where nothing came up abnormal. I'm supposed to have a bbl in May, will I be okay to do so?
Answer: Cyst on butt. Can I still have a BBL? The area of the cyst should be avoided during the surgery to reduce the risk for infection.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Cyst if the cyst is near your natal cleft (aka butt crack) it may be a pilonidal cyst or sinus. your surgeon should be able to tell you about this. in any event, any incision used to insert the fat should not be made near this cyst, or it could potentially increase your risk of a postoperative infection. good luck !!!!

Answer: Be cautious Any time you have a cyst or an infection near the site of an surgery, especially, an elective surgery, in my opinion its always best to have that issue resolved before you proceed. A cyst can easily become an open draining wound and lead to a bad infection on its own. If you add a BBL to that equation it can result in big set backs and post operative complications. I would have an open and honest discussion with your surgeon about it and make sure he or she feels good about moving forward. Although it can be inconvenience and a real bummer to delay or postpone your procedure, it might be in your best interest. Talk with your surgeon and go from there. Good luck and good health!
