Will my husband be allowed inside the operating room while having my BBL surgery?

This is a question for the surgeon with whom you have scheduled the BBL. As a member of and lecturer for the Institute for Safety in Office Based Surgery (ISOBS), patient safety is at the forefront of my OR procedures. Therefore,  I do not allow anyone in the OR other than the essential OR personnel. Family and friends accompanying the patient typically wait until the anesthesiologist tells them that the patient is sedated and then leave and return during recovery where they can be with the patient.  My staff is just a phone call away from updating family/friends as surgery progresses.Kenneth B. Generally speaking, non-essential personnel should not be allowed in the operating room while a procedure is being performed. Exceptions can be made during the pre-anesthesia period (this often done for younger individuals with parents). However, once the patient is asleep and the procedure is ready to begin, no one should be in the room other than the surgical team. This is first and foremost a safety and sterility issue.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Unfortunately, non-medical team members are not allowed into the OR. You can have your surgeon videotape or snapchat the surgery if you permit.
