10 days after Botox, my hair was coming out by the hundreds. Would I have a similar reaction to Dysport or Xeomin?

I had Botox and 10 days later, my hair was coming out by the hundreds and lost a lot of hair around my face (those new fine hairs are gone). I can see that my hairline is farther back. I only had 10 units around my mouth. I didn't do anything else different during this time. I know this is rare but it is now a reported side effect. My question is, would I have the same reaction to Dysport or Xeomin? I love Botox but it doesn't love me! My Dr says I am one of the very sensitive ones....sigh.

In general, hair loss is not a side effect of treatment with Botox or Dysport. Botox may result in the following side effects:1) Light bruising2) Swelling 3) Redness around the injection siteI would recommend following up with a board certified dermatologist regarding the issue you are experiencing, as there are many potential causes for hair loss. Botox, disport, or xeomin are not reported to cause hair loss.  The use of botulinum toxin is so wide spread that there must be at least 200 million treated with these agents.  Also you dose is tiny.  Now it is very peculiar to be treated around the mouth with 10 units of botox.  As there is no likelihood that the hairloss is caused by your treatment, either this post is not real or something other than your botox treatment is causing the described hair loss.

Hair loss should not occur after Botox.  Please see a dermatologist for evaluation for hair loss as there are many, many potential causes for this and Botox is not one of them.

I have never seen this effect and have been injecting Botox for over 20 years. With only 10 units that is even more uncommon. With that being said, Dysport and Xeomin are slightly different than Botox, but not all that much. The only way to know if you'd have a reaction and hairloss would be to have a test site injected and see what happened. I'm not sure I'd recommend that though and might just tell you that neuromodulators should be avoided. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and
