Afraid of the aftermath of rhinoplasty surgery - anesthesia effects?

Thank you for your question.  People emerge from anesthesia differently and this will depend on you, your anesthesiologist, drugs used during surgery, and length of surgery.  Usually people emerge peacefully and sleep for 15 minutes or so before waking up.  Some people can be a little disinhibited and say some very strange things, but the recovery room nurses are quite used to it, so don't worry.  You also probably won't remember anything you say later.

It is always good to review your family history with the anesthesiologist.  All your concerns also depend upon the type of anesthesia and the anesthesiologist.

Anesthesia like surgery is in the hands of the individual practitioner;like surgery it is an art and a science.An OR team that has worked together daily over many years makes a tremendous difference for the patient.In addition, a confident and comfortable patient also typically has a much better anesthesia experience.Hope this helps

Almost all of our patents wake up peacefully as if they were just asleep. There is very little craziness after anesthesia. The drugs we use today are terrific.

Hi,Anesthetic medications have different effects on every individual. However, most people do fine and have no side effects aside from slightly groggy. I perform all of my rhinoplasties under local with mild sedation therefore avoiding risks with general anesthesia.Best, Dr.S.

The recovery nurses as well as the anesthesia nurse will be with you as you wake up from your surgery.  If you say crazy things, that is not a problem. In general it doesn't happen.
