Does using Differin Gel every other night to the scalp with Minoxidil 5% twice a day cause hair loss?

I'm experiencing hair loss/thinning for 6-7 months. Dermatologist recommended the use of Minoxidil for Men 5% Hair Regrowth Treatment. Used Minoxidil for 2+ weeks with no noticeable difference or improvement. Recommendation was to continue using Minolidil and add Differin Gel OTC every other night. I've read poor reviews about hair loss after using Differin. Can you confirm that the users are correct with their conclusion of using the gel and their loss of hair?

Minoxidil can cause a slight shedding in the first few months. Hairs are being cycled from the resting phase to the growth phase. Minoxidil must be evaluated over 12 months. You must continue for this duration before making an assessment. Differin is being used to increase absorption. It should be helpful unless there is irritation from the Differin. Should that occur, discontinue the Differin but not the minoxidil for a few days and then restart with just minoxidil.prphairmd.com
