Should I be worried about scratches from micro needling? (Photo)

Question

I had Eclipse MicroPen performed for acne scarring yesterday, and one side of my forehead has what looks like vertical scratches. They seem very superficial and aren't very noticeable in regular lighting, and the doctor who performed the procedure is very well respected, but I'm still somewhat concerned. When you look close they look like little tears or a cat scratch. There are no elevated bumps like I've seen people have experienced after Infini. Thank you.

Sometimes, when a treatment is more aggressive, the needles penetrate deeper and cause scratches in areas where the skin in thinner.  Though providers try very hard to avoid this from happening, it does happen at times.  This is nothing to worry about.  Just be gentle with your skin and the scratches will begin healing within the next few days.All the best,Carlos Mata, MD, MBA, FACSBoard-Certified Plastic Surgeon

Good afternoon and thank you for your question! The vertical lines on your forehead look relatively normal after an aggressive microneedling treatment. They should heal fine as long as you are using a proper post-care skin regimen. I would suggest giving it about a week to heal and use the post-care products recommended to you by your technician. Hi notebook241,It is normal to experience some redness and superficial scratches after microneedling. Your skin will be hypersensitive during the first few days. Skincare you have been using in the past may be too strong for you. Still to your post-op instructions.
