Major smile difference 1 year later - is it permanent? (Photos)

I had a medium submental chin implant in July of last year, but I had it removed two months later because it was both too big and too low (it provided far more length than projection), plus it was a little uneven. I also had tingling upon contact in the lower left quadrant of my chin, but none near my lip. Now nearly a year later, the tingling is exactly the same - no better or worse (not painful) - and my smile has never recovered. It feels like my lower lip won't pull down as much as it needs to, but the corners of my mouth are pulling down more. It also feels like my lower lip gets pulled back when I smile. I've come to terms with the fact that this might be permanent, but I at least want to know what the actual problem is. What nerve is being affected here, and is there anything to be done other than see what time does?
