As a rule of thumb you can have IPL while undergoing chemotherapy. But every patient is different and so are chemotherapy medications so you need to make sure the IPL is performed by an experienced physician and that your oncologist is informed in regards to the IPL treatment. In my experience chemotherapy can alter the connective tissue and collagen in the skin making it dryer. But I noticed great improvement in the skin with IPL.Good luck.
There are a multitude of chemotherapeutic medications that are used for a variety of medical problems. In our office, we work closely with the treating oncologist or hematologist for each patient to decide what treatments are safe for use. This should be done individually for each patient, as the chemotherapy agents used vary. I would recommend that you first speak with your oncologist/hematologist to find out what is reasonable and safe for your situation, and then be sure that this is communicated directly with all your treating providers.Best wishes,
