Hi. I'm 40 yrs old, height 5'4 and weight 222. I want to get the gastric sleeve ASAP and scared my insurance will not cover the surgery since my PCP is unavailable to support. I decided a tummy-tuck, lipo might be an option but I want to keep the weight off with a healthy lifestyle. Is it possible to fly to another state for the surgery; if I pay out of pocket? And what will be required?

Answer: Traveling for weight loss surgery You should get close to your goal before having cosmetic. You will get better results. It is not uncommon to travel for surgery, either to another state, or to another country. Do some research on your options and you may find that going to Mexico for surgery offers you the option of self paying for surgery for less then you might pay even with your insurance. Look for a surgeon and a facility with certifications like Joint Commission, Centers of Excellence, along with surgeons that specialize in bariatric surgery and are licensed in bariatric surgery.

Answer: Out of state patients Yes Yes Yes It happens all the time... You need to stay in the area for a minimum of a week ideally up to a month! But it can be done as a out of pocket case or even we can charge your insurance, if we can verify it and do all the consultation & work up before you fly in for surgery!
