There are two common reasons you would have sore nipples. One is that placing an implant stretches the intercostal nerves which provide sensation to the breast and nipple and these nerves have altered activity, either decreased or increased until they heal. And two, the implant has made the breasts more firm and added projection, so likely the nipples are suffering from more friction than they used to.
Dear blr2014,soreness of nipples is very common. It depends on the operation but often times normal sensation can return in a couple of weeks, a year, or not at all. Nipple sensation itself is very important and can sometimes be changed with breast surgery. This is often mentioned in the risks of the consent process. I imagine your soreness is just temporary although I would have to examine you.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
Thank you for your question and congratulations on your surgery! After an augmentation the nerves of the skin are stretched as a result of swelling and the increased volume of the implants. This stretching irritates the nerves which can cause a number of different nipple and breast skin sensations including increased/decreased sensitivity or a burning/electrical feeling. As the stretching and swelling resolves so will the burning sensation. Hang in there and be sure to mention these issues to your surgeon during your post-operative appointments.
Your sensitivity is caued by nerve sensitivity on breasts, and it is normal. Hypersensitivity gets better with time. It is not related to the incision made for your surgery. Sensitivity is arising in the nerves that take feelings from your entire breast. Those nerves are being stretched by your implants and causing these sensivity signals to you..
Thank you for your question. Is the odor coming from the nipple or the breast itself, or perhaps from the incision? Until you find the source of the odor, it is going to be hard to figure out the cause. However, I would not classify this as normal and I would encourage you to see your surgeon ...
First of all, neither implant will ever look "saggy" in your case. Saggy is loose tissue, not implants and your tissues look youthful and tight. You will get a nice result with either mod plus or HP, the HP is just a little fuller in the upper pole and a little larger overall. You could try each...
The most important thing to do is to see you surgeon to make sure there is no sign of infection, and if there is no infection then you can feel comfortable that the smell will soon go away.
