Is there a way to get a tear trough filler without causing the tyndall effect? (Photo)

The Tyndall effect occurs when filler is placed too superficially in the under-eye area, leading to a bluish tint. To avoid this, the filler must be injected deeply, ideally on the bone or in the sub-orbicularis plane, using a hyaluronic acid product designed for delicate under-eye use.

Your left side does appear to have mild puffiness or possible overfilling compared to the right, which could also be due to fluid retention, asymmetry, or skin texture changes. If overfilling is confirmed, a small amount of hyaluronidase can be used to dissolve excess product before carefully refilling at the proper depth. Using a microcannula and minimal amounts of filler can further reduce the risk of irregularities.

You are not alone! Many of my patients share your concern. Though we have used hyaluronic acid fillers for under eye hollows for years, we now have a much better solution without the risks of Tyndall effect (blue/gray discolor under the skin) or malar edema (swelling, puffiness under the eyes and upper cheeks.). My preferred treatment for patients with your concerns is a process called EZ Gel which is 100% natural and does not cause Tyndall or edema.
