Hello! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Aesthetic Skin in Winnetka and Chicago. This is a great question. Based on your concerns I recommend treating the area of concern with dermal filler and/or Morpheus8. Fillers, such as hyaluronic acid-based products, can be used to add volume and smooth out areas of dimpled skin. This is best for restoring volume and improving the appearance of loose skin. Filler is a great option if you are seeking immediate results. Additionally, Morpheus8 is a great treatment for tightening of the skin. Morpheus8 uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. This treatment is best used to tighten loose skin and improving overall skin texture.I hope this helps and best of luck!
Dimpled skin on the chin often comes from overactivity of the mentalis muscle, while loose skin beneath the chin can be due to aging, loss of elasticity, or mild fat accumulation. A combination approach is usually most effective:Botox/Dysport: Small doses can relax the mentalis muscle to smooth out chin dimpling.Dermal fillers: Hyaluronic acid fillers can improve chin contour, reduce dimpling appearance, and enhance overall definition.Skin tightening treatments: Options such as radiofrequency microneedling (Morpheus8), Ultherapy, or laser-based tightening can stimulate collagen and firm loose skin.Kybella (deoxycholic acid): If excess fat is contributing to the fullness under the chin, this injectable can help reduce fat and improve definition.Combination therapy: Often, the best outcome comes from addressing both muscle activity (Botox) and skin quality (tightening devices or fillers). These treatments can be tailored to smooth the chin surface and improve the contour under the chin for a firmer, more refined appearance.
Dear funnyface,Chin dimpling is often caused by pulling of muscular attachment of the mentalis muscle or chin muscle to the overlying skin creating a dimpled or orange-peel effect. My approach to this presentation will be injecting neuromodulator such as botulinum toxin to the chin muscle then reassess. If there is skin laxity, I would recommend using skin resurfacing modalities such as nitrogen plasma device to tighten and smoothen the skin.Sincerely yours,Drkenbrito
If the dimples worsen with motion, then a few droplets of Botox would be in order. If they are present at rest, then the use of a robust HA filler for chin augmentation would be recommended. If both static and dynamic chin wrinkles are present, then both of the aforementioned can be performed either in one treatment session if desired, or in two separate sessions, if preferred. You would be wise to make sure to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist injector expert and best of luck.
From the photos you will have the best result from a surgical neck lift. If you are wanting non surgical options for improvement you will want to consider a combination of treatments. Botox can help with the "orange peel' appearance to the chin that is caused by muscle movement. Fillers can help contour the area. You can also consider Morpheus8 or FaceTite procedures to address loose skin and improve texture. See a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.
