Could submental fat be used as fat injections to the face? (Photos)

Question

Hope things are going well! I've previously had fat injections to the face, but I noticed that the fat was firmer than the softer facial fat that was originally there. I've recently decided that I might need to do something about my submental pooch, but since the consistency of the fact there is very similar to that on my face, I would like for it to be injected if at all possible. I mainly just want to inject around the nose and nasal labial folds. Attaching worst possible pic I could find.

it can but its not the best choice. You dont get very much fat from that area and its pretty fibrous. Fat transfer is most successful from the inner thighs or the abdomen.

Thank you for your question. It is unlikely that you would have enough submental fat to make a meaningful transfer to the face. More commonly, we would combine submental liposuction with a fat transfer from the abdomen or thighs to the face. Providing that sufficient amount of fat is removed from submental area, that fat may be used as a fat graft for another facial area. It doesn't seem that fat grafts from other areas of the body (abdomen, thighs) perform and behave differently when transferred to the face in comparison to fat grafts generated from areas around the face (neck). In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with long experience with fat grafting of the face, is recommending. Good luck.
