I recently had permanent porcelain veneers fitted by a well-reviewed Cosmetic Dentist on Teeth 4-13. Within a few days, the veneers on 3, 14, and 7 all came off. The dentist said this was likely due to the lab not treating the porcelain properly. He has now offered to redo them entirely. I'm looking for a second opinion on whether this sounds right? For a supposed top tire cosmetic dentist, this seems like a massive mistake. I'm concerned. Thanks in advance!

Answer: Veneers falling off Hi! Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this. Yes, this could happen if the veneers were not properly prepared (etched) by the lab. Although the etching should be checked prior to cementation, it may not always be obvious by visual check. The other reason may be that you have bite interferences in those areas which weakened the bond when you clench and grind at night. Wearing a properly made protective guard (quick splint or a POD are best at decreasing clenching and grinding forces ) is an important part of protecting your restorations & maintaining your smile.
