I’m having a revision done and am aware because of the way my nose is shaped (elf-like) that I will probably have another indented scar that inevitably stretches a bit. I’d like to mediate it this time. But CO2 is expensive. Can a peel do essentially the same thing for a lift lift scar? If, so which kind?
Answer: A chemical peel can be paired with laser treatments to help improve results Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Chemical Peels Chemical peels can indeed help to improve the appearance of scars, but they may not offer the same depth of treatment as CO2 laser resurfacing. A CO2 laser can penetrate deeper into the skin and stimulate more collagen production, which can be beneficial for improving the appearance of scars. However, a deep chemical peel, such as a phenol or TCA peel, can also help to reduce the appearance of scars by removing the top layers of the skin and promoting new skin growth. These types of peels can cause a significant amount of peeling and require more downtime than lighter peels. It's important to discuss your concerns and expectations with your dermatologist or plastic surgeon. They can provide you with the most accurate advice based on your specific situation and skin type. Keep in mind that while chemical peels and laser treatments can improve the appearance of scars, they may not completely eliminate them. Multiple treatment sessions may be necessary to achieve your desired outcome. Additionally, proper wound care after the revision surgery can also help to minimize scarring. This includes keeping the area clean, avoiding sun exposure, and using recommended topical products to promote healing.

Answer: Chemical peel Chemical peels can improve the appearance of scars, but they may not provide the same benefits as more invasive procedures like CO2 laser treatment. It's essential to consult with a dermatologist or plastic surgeon to determine the most suitable option for your specific case. They can recommend the appropriate type of peel or other treatments based on your skin type and the nature of the scar. Best of luck !
