I was referred to a Dr who finished 5 year residency 2012, and finished fellowship 2014 and is currently one of a small group of plastic surgeons at a prestigious university Am I in the wrong to be nervous that he is relatively young and new Dr? I realize that surgeons have to get experience somehow, but for elective surgery that I am paying a lot for I want the best Dr for me, I don't want to be used as an experience builder for a new Dr.

Answer: Experience is not enough A monkey may live 1000 yrs but he'll never write El Quijote or Macbeth, right? so some genetical skills are necessary to be a good surgeon. Find online cases from this young surgeon, he may be a groundbreaking one in spite his age, I'd give him a chance if the reputation from previous rhinoplasties is good.

Too often, patients choose a physician based on a catchy ad, the brand name of a technique, the basis of one or two before and after photos, or their web site’s search engine ranking. These criteria will not find the most experienced and talented plastic surgeon, nor will being a new member of an university program as experience does make a difference.
