Swelling is very common after body contouring procedures. Typically, 50% of the swelling dissipates after 3 weeks, and 80% of the swelling dissipates after 6 weeks.   The remainder of the swelling dissipates over the next 3-6 months, and patients may not see the final results for the next year. If patients have minimal swelling or bruising after a procedure, do not be concerned; everyone bruises differently based on their genetics.
Lower body lifts typically have scars in the waistline but scars can be modified based on the patient’s preoperative contour and post operative desires.
