What are the solutions for painful fat necrosis after BBL?

Hello, I had a BBL done last November (11.03.15) and I have been diagnosed with fat necrosis. Two big hard lumps in each cheek that are painful. What are the solutions that I have? Is it gonna soften with time? if so, when?? Who had already practiced a BBL revision on a patient with fat necrosis? Thank you

Hi and great question.I appreciate the time you are spending researching this issue.  Fat can harden after injection in any area.  The progression of treatment for hardened fat is:1)  Time; most hardened fat gets softer and disappears with time. 2)  Massage 3)  In office treatment by helping the hardened fat to drain4)  Operative Liposuction TreatmentThe treatment timeline I typically use is (but this adjusted based on what I see in person) is:1)  Massage and Time for at least 6 months; if improving then I wait until the 12 month mark2)  If no improvement at the 6 month mark; then I perform the in-office treatment; continue massage and re-evaluate in 6 more months.3)  If no improvement at the 12 month mark; then discuss potential for Operative revisionsI hope that helps.  Best of luck!

Fat necrosis in the buttocks cheek can be corrected by a number of techniques including:1)doing nothing; 90% will reabsorb by one year2)manual daily message can be very effective in helping break up the area of prominence especially if it sticking out;3)sucking it out with a cannula if it is really large.
