Can Renuvion J Plasma and lipo fix my flanks 3 years after my tummy tuck? (Photos)

Patients can have significant weight loss after a bariatric surgery or with a life style changes. This weight loss is incredible for a person’s overall health, but your skin may not do well with it.  Thus, many patients will undergo a body contouring surgery after massive weight loss.   This could be a tummy tuck, arm lift procedure or circumferential body lift.  These body contouring procedures typically create an incredible body transformation.  It allows patients to see what they have accomplished with all of their hard work during their weight loss journey. 

Body contouring procedures can transform the body as it has the ability to remove a tremendous amount of skin, to shape, lift and tighten the body.  However, body contouring procedures do not have the ability to change the skin itself.  The turgor of the skin does not change and if patients have stretch marks or extreme skin laxity that does not improve with body contouring surgery such as tummy tucks or arm lifts.

Until recently we didn’t have much more to offer patients that had a tummy tuck or arm lift surgery and still had skin laxity, but no significant amount of skin to remove.  However now we have Renuvion (J – Plasma) which is a radiofrequency skin tightening device that is used to tighten the skin.  The device has a cannula (similar to a liposuction cannula) that can be placed under the skin and then it emits the radiofrequency energy that causes controlled trauma to the skin leading to skin tightening.  We have started using this on our patients that have undergone a tummy tuck after massive weight loss.  Patients love the way they look standing up, however they just wish the skin was a litter tighter and this is where J-Plasma has given us a new avenue to treat patients like we have never had before. 

It is import to remember that Renuvion (J-Plasma) is a great device to help tighten skin, however it is not a replacement for a tummy tuck, brachioplasty, or facelift.  It can be done when patients are not ready for a full body contouring procedure or a facelift.  Or it can be used after these procedures to help further tighten the skin.

Thank you for you question,"Non surgical options give only mild improvement compared to surgical lifting. Skin tightening can be done with a combination of vanquish, venus legacy, exilis, celllutone/Zwave. However for your case the best results can be accomplished by:

1) HD liposuction to remove all the fat
2) gland removal to remove puffy, enlarged nipples
3) nipple lifting to ensure no sagging after liposuction and a sqaured-off athletic shape
4) fat grafting to the muscle to give an athletic defined chest and lifting to the chest.

I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. based on your photos, it looks like you might benefit from a liposuction in order to improve your results. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Thank you for your photo. I appears that you still have some additional fat remaining in your lower back and flanks. From the pictures you provided, you may benefit from lipo 360, although it is hard to determine without an in person consultation. This procedure would address stubborn areas of fat in the upper and lower back, flanks (hips), and abdomen. Renuvion skin tightening is often coupled with this procedure to resolve any noticeable skin redundancy. It's not clear from your picture if you had a mini sent me tuck or a full tummy tuck. If you had a full tummy tuck and your surgeon sure did a nice job with your bellybutton. If it was a mini tummy tuck then excepting some of the limitations on that procedure may be necessary.
I'm guessing you'll have a history of significant weight loss which is usually the case when men get tummy tucks. Weight loss patients especially men don't get great flank or love handle results from liposuction. I own the J plasma device and will tell you that from my perspective the results are underwhelming and barely noticeable.
For someone who was underwhelmed by a tummy tuck I think you would be very disappointed with what J plasma can achieve.
A better option is to extend a tummy tuck around the sides to an extended or potentially wraparound tummy tuck.
We would need an examination to determine the improvements that could be had on both the front, sides and back. It would also help to understand what you don't like in regards to your upcoming. As well to get an assessment for how your procedure turned out and assessing you for future procedures it would be who've you to show up before and after pictures. I suggest reposting with before and after pictures that your surgeon took. If you don't have copies then ask them to forward copies for you. If you take pictures in the future for posting the news a timer on your camera and stand about 10 feet away. Alternatively have someone else take the pictures for you.
You may get good liposuction results for most of your torso. In particular the love handles don't respond as well on men especially with skin laxity. I believe the primary reason for this is that men have a smaller pelvis and a wider rib cage. This creates a skin drape that has a tendency to bulge of the love handles rather than follow the contour created with fat removal from liposuction. One way to demonstrate this is to lift up the skin above the love handles with your hands while looking in the mirror. If the contour improves dramatically by pulling on the skin than skin laxity is contributing fundamentally to this contour. If the shape is not changed much by pulling on the skin that much of the contour is related to underlying structures including fat.
All of this is much better explain during an in person consultation.
The ability to assess, predict and deliver varies greatly among different providers.
I suggest having in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who have extensive experience with liposuction with proven homerun results with hundreds but preferably thousands of before and after pictures.
