I am curious how long I would have to wait to receive laser scar removal treatments to reduce the appearance of my future incisions. I have brown skin and will be going in for a breast lift with implants so unfortunately I will have many scars.
Answer: Scars on Body -- Fraxel/Microneedling, Sculptra/Fat/Bellafill, Subcision, Pulsed Dye Laser; Medical Tattooing After 3-6 weeks you can start pulsed dye laser treatments and i often will have patients wait up to 3 months to start fractional lasers, microneedling. PRP can be used right away. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Depending on the healing process it is recommended to wait 4-6 weeks post op to do any laser treatments Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Answer: Scar treatment I think you need to first see how your scars heal before jumping the gun and getting laser treatment on them. I highly recommend and use the Embrace scar therapy dressing for every patient after surgery to minimize scarring. Depending on how you are healing, I implement lasers as early as 1 month.

Answer: Breast Scar Removal Hi Brianna. The amount of time that we recommend between surgery and laser scar revision depends on the type of scars. Colored scars are treated differently than textured scars and the time between surgery and treatment will be different for both. Your best bet is to speak with your surgeon about what he/she thinks and then also consult with some scar experts about how long they take in between. It's likely that you will get different answers because each office will have different rules of thumb, but a general rule in our practice is that the scar needs to be significantly healed but not completely healed. This means 4 weeks may be too soon, but 4 years will be too long. You can start the consultations about a month after your surgery. Good luck. You can view before and after pictures for scar removal for our Los Angeles patients at the link below.
