Pain, swelling, and a zit like lump at an injection site on my forehead. Should I go back to see the doctor?

About 24 hours ago I had Botox injections in my forehead (a total of 12 units) and around my eyes. One of the injection sites on my forehead is very sore, swelled up like a zit, and is red. It hurts and isn't getting better. Will this go away or should I see the doctor? Can I put Neosporin or ice on it, or should I leave it alone? Thanks for the help!

If you're having injection site problems after administration of Botox or any other injectable medication, you should contact the physician who injected you immediately

If you are having pain and swelling you should see your physician for an evaluation, this is not normal after botox.  Best, Dr. Emer.

I would have liked to perhaps see a photo of what you are describing, but short of that, I'd advise you to see your doctor for further evaluation.

It sounds like an infection in the injection sight.  This is extremely rare but needs evaluation.  Go back to your provider to have a look at this.  It might need antibiotics and/or drainage.

Since this post was from a few days ago, I will assume at this point you probably have gotten this taken care of.If not, you should contact your provider ASAP.If your provider is not able to see you or get you an appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan, you should follow up with someone who can.This sounds like it could be a skin infection.While generally treatable and not dangerous, infections always have the potential of becoming catastrophic.Get checked out as soon as possible.Hope things are better.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.

Yes, if you are having pain, swelling and a pimple-type lesion, I suggest seeing your injector.  Call their office today, if it is not better.
