Do the results of microneedling RF on stretch marks and scars remain permanently? Or does this treatment require maintenance visits to maintain results?
Answer: Stretch Marks - Combination of Lasers, Microneedling/PRP, Radiofrequency Treatments (Intensif, Skinfinity, Venus Viva, Fractora) Thank you for your question.Stretch marks can't officially be "cured," and it will take a combination approach and consistent treatment to see great results. However, there are a multitude of treatments currently available that can be utilized. I recommend a combination of microneedling/PRP, lasers (Erbium, Fraxel, Excel V, Pulsed Dye Laser, Laser Genesis, Yellow laser) or radiofrequency devices like Intensif, Fractora, Skinfinitiy, and Venus Viva. I recommend seeing an expert for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Profound RF Thank you for the question. Without pictures its hard to say what you are referring to. If its scar tissue or stretch marks they can be lightened with RF microneedling and eventually can be cleared and then won't need any more treatment. But in general RF microneedling depending on the treatment type can need a second treatment in 2-3 years.

Answer: Microneedling There is no technology yet that can completely remove a stretch mark without surgical removal such as through a tummy tuck with a hidden incision. I feel that the best approach is to do combination therapy with microneedling and PRP to restore collagen into the stretch mark and fractionated laser or RF to help tighten the dermis and collagen to bring the edges of the stretch mark closer together and make them less noticeable. It is best to have an in-office examination to determine the safest and most effective therapy for your skin. Hope this helps!! Johnson C. Lee, MD Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Stretchmarks and treatments In the context of your question , IF you have a response to RF, the results are permanent, providing other variables do not change (more weight etc). Microneedling RF is an extension of microneedling with ‘energy’. Generation one devices such as Dermapen/ Skin Pen etc. use needles without heat to remodel collagen. Generation Two devices are microneedles that are not insulated, hence heat is delivered along the length of needles. Examples include Secret RF and Intensif. Generation Three devices use insulated needles to deliver heat at the point of the needle. Examples include Infini RF, as well as Genius. Newer generation devices will generally give better outcomes, however with insulation, the safety of microneedling RF devices is usually better than generation two machines. With insulation the incidence of skin colour darkening and ‘grids’ secondary to ‘stamping’ is less, however it is largely technique dependent. Microneedling RF should be viewed as a tool to be incorporated in the suitable clinical context. As with most other ‘fractional technology’ 3-5 sessions spaced 3-6 weeks apart will give the best results. Be guided by your specialist.
