I generally ask my patient to refrain from excessive caffeine for the first couple of weeks. That means a cup a day is fine or they can drink decaffeinated coffee. My concern is with increasing blood pressure and heart rate resulting in bleeding or excessive fluid accumulation. This may be unfounded but I always err on the side of better be safe.I would ask your surgeon what he/she recommends as every surgeon has their own postoperative recipe.Hope that helps.
