Is this level of animation deformity normal? (Photos)

This looks like a normal level of animation. Importantly, I don't see a fold, double fold or double bubble forming in the flexed photos. You have a good result and it's a good compromise compared to having a CC.Speak with your surgeon about your concerns.Best wishes, Dr. Aldo

It sounds like you must have had significant capsular contracture in the past and this degree of animation would be normal for under the muscle.

it seems that the capsular contracture that you had with your implants that were in the subglandular position must have been pretty bad to merit revisional surgery involving a plane change and stratttice. the animation that i see in the still pictures is acceptable in this context. while we can see animation deformity in many patients by making them strain in certain ways, what most patients find objectionable is when it occurs with casual or normal movements which is what you are experiencing. it's unfortunate that by trying to address one problem you've had another. discussing this with your plastic surgeon is important to see if any other interventions are merited.

Yes, your movement appears normal for implants placed behind the muscle. However, this may be an improvement over the capsule, and has less chance of capsular contraction behind the muscle. Please discuss any concerns you have with your surgeon.

Submuscular placement is better IMO for many reasons and is used in ALL of my patients except ones who come for revision and already have above's and no CC problems. Even in the very athletic ones, which most are these days. The degree of movement you see is normal and just seems extreme to you because of what you didn't see above the muscle. But above's got you into trouble and cost with the CC whose risk is lower below the muscle.
