I assume you mean your surgeon is having you use hypafix tape on your scars now that the steristrips are off and your skin is relatively healed. Pressure on a healing scar is probably the best way to keep a scar flat and healing well. This is probably a good idea especially if you tend to have thick scars. Discuss the why with your surgeon. Your surgeon probably instructed you on this so you should follow the surgeon's instructions. That said, I'm not totally convinced Hypafix tape, Steri-Strips or other taping after the first few weeks is necessarily going to change the final result. There is, however, evidence that silicone gel sheeting may help keep scars smooth and flat over time and assist in the remodeling process. For now, you should follow your surgeon's instructions.

Thank you for your question and photo. Based on your photos appears as if you had a periareolar mastopexy. The rippling is totally normal. This normally takes several months to settle down and ultimately should be fine.
