BBL in June: High platelets count

Hello and Great Question.  I appreciate the time you are spending researching this procedure.  My name is Dr. Matthew J. Nykiel.  I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, a Fellowship Trained Cosmetic Surgeon, and a Butt Augmentation Specialist.
Your platelets are elevated.  There are a number of reasons why this can happen and sometimes it is totally normal.  I agree with you; I would work with your PCP to figure out why the platelets are high.  Without a w/u (tests to determine why it is high), we simply don't know why the platelets are high.  Will it affect your surgery date?  Well, that depends on the reason for why the platelets are high.  If all tests, w/u are negative then, at least in my practice, I would perform the surgery.  However, the best source of information for you is your specific surgeon that is going to perform the surgery.  If you are looking toward Dr. Ortega, then reach out to him or his office.  I am sure they would want to be kept in loop while your PCP is deciding what to do.I hope that helps!  Best of Luck!

Typically the way this works is your primary care doctor would communicate with Dr. Ortega and the two of them will discuss what would be appropriate for you in regards to your surgery.
