What happens if fake Juvederm was injected into my face? Would Vitrase or Hyaluronidase help? (Photo)

Question

I was injected with an extremely large needle in my nose and my chin that was suppose to be juvederm. After the injection I felt hard painful lumps for a month before I got my first Hyaluronidase injection. It's been almost a year and it has not went down. There is 3 other patients of his I've been in contact with and they said the same thing and he said it was "new juvederm on the market" im scared it is juvederm ultra 4 or something that is not regulated in the US. I don't know what to do.

Hello,Unfortunately, there is no way to know for certain what was injected.  We suggest that you request your medical records to determine what product was used as there should be a product label/lot number recorded.  If you are having trouble obtaining these or believe non-approved FDA products were used, the California Medical Board should be able to assist you.In the meantime, you may need far more Vitrase than what was used the first time.  If you injector is the one trying to help you with Vitrase, we recommend that he continue to attempt to dissolve the product.  If you do not trust your practitioner or are not receiving the appropriate attention, then we suggest you find someone that will be able to assist you in finding a solution to your problem.  Regardless of which Juvederm product was used, Vitrase should be able to help if the issue is over-filling with an HA gel product.Please see the below link for additional information on the use of Vitrase.

Hyaluronidaise (Vitrase or Hylenex) will only dissolve the material if it is a hyaluronic acid filler. If it's not a hyaluronic acid filler than injecting it with hyaluronidaise will not help. As stated in a previous answer, I would recommend requesting your records of what product was used.
