When does a full incision blepharoplasty (double eyelid surgery) heal completely and look natural?

You can start going out at the two week mark without gettingany side glances or looks from others. It may take longer, 4-6  weeks, before the majority of swelling is gone.

Typically it is about 2 months before you get to a point that the lingering swelling no longer affect the position of the upper eyelid crease.  Until that time, your creases will look high even if they are perfectly placed.  In terms of social events, often by 2 full weeks after surgery, one can be at social events without being taken aside and asked what happened.

Most patients are sociable after the first week, but with a full incision procedure, it will take a year for the scar to heal completely. You will notice changes in the incision and the swelling around your eyelids as time progresses. Be sure to follow the postop instructions of your surgeon.

 Full healing after a blepharoplasty incision usually takes approximately 3 months. Visible bruising and swelling last approximately 2 weeks after the procedure.

Thank you for your question.  It can take up to a year for you to be completely healed.  As my colleague's have stated most of the healing is below the surface and is unseen and unfelt.  It may take several months for swelling to go away completely.  Your sutures should disappear in about a week or so and you should be able to go out and be social after a few days with makeup.Best of luck.Dr. Peter Newen

It takes over a year for any incision to "heal completely." However, most of this healing is below the surface and unseen and unfelt. It takes several months for the swelling to completely subside, but most of this is not readily noticeable by the majority of people looking at you. Sutures are out by 3-5 days. With make-up, most people can return to normal social activities in 4-7 days. I personally went back to the office at 5 days with no one making a comment.
