MRI shows possible extracapsular rupture of my 8 year old textured Allergan biocell implants (the recalled type). MRI also shows my lymph nodes are inflamed possibly due to being silicone laden or just because I just got the COVID vaccine. I know I need to replace these implants soon but is surgery an emergency or can I wait one more month? I have one doctor who can do surgery in next few weeks but another doctors who I prefer but who has no have availability til next month. Who do i go with?

You were wise to contact your plastic surgeon to have an MRI performed revealing possible capsular rupture. Symptoms of pain, swelling, lumps, skin rash, or hardening of the breasts typically develop seven to nine years after the textured Allergan biocell implant insertion.
It is important to note that women with the textured Allergan biocell implant should not panic as this cancer is very rare. This type of cancer is highly treatable, primarily by removing the implants and scar tissues. Go with the plastic surgeon you prefer as trust between a doctor and patient are important. Ask your plastic surgeon about Allergan's program that runs until July 24, 2021 which will provide Allergan smooth implant replacement for free. Allergan may reimburse up to $1,000 in diagnostic fees and up to $7,500 in surgical fees related to diagnosing and treating BIA-ALCL.

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

The implants should be removed as soon as it is reasonably possible to do so.  It is not a medical emergency and since the availability of your preferred surgeon is relatively soon it should be fine to proceed with her/him.

Removal of implants is not an emergency in your case and you can wait at least one month. The rupture may have been present for quite some time. You also may need to recover from the vaccine before having elective surgery.
