Any foreign substance in the body can cause an autoimmune reaction, including breast implants. Though not well documented, breast implants have been thought to exacerbate existing autoimmune disorders, so discuss the pros and cons with your PS.
Dear RetaG,it is hard to tell for sure. You can get implants removal in case you have issues with your implants and wait to see if your symptoms will improve. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
If your implants are the only cause for your autoimmune disorder, then yes, the removal should cause the disorder to clear. However, most autoimmune disorders are not caused by just one thing, and are often strongly related to diet and toxins in your environment which may not change even if implants are removed. Also, if your body is highly inflamed, then fat grafting may not be successful. Also, fat grafting may not always be done at the time of removal.
It is not possible to say if removal of implants will reverse your autoimmune symptoms. Some women who have had them removed report improvement in their conditions, but there is no guarantee. I encourage you to speak in detail with your surgeon about your concerns and the options.
Thank you for your inquiry! Are you have concerns with your breasts? This could change the answer. We would love to sit down with you and review your options. Schedule a consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss your goals.

If you have previously had the pectoralis major muscle cut then it cannot be reattached. It retracts or atrophies over the time period that the implants were placed. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
Hi @hbarnett13, thank you for your question. My preference is to combine breast implant removal with immediate repositioning of the breast tissue to address the projection of the upper pole and medial areas using the BRALAN Technique (Breast Reconstruction Anatomical Lift Augmentation) as the...
