Hello! I'm having my BA at the end of this month , but I'm yet to decide which shape implants to get. My PS recommended round implants midi projection (300cc-330cc) But I also want to achieve as natural a look as possible and I'm afraid the rounds will look too fake. Should I get ergonomic or round?
Answer: Implants This is an old story here. Ergonomic implants are basically teardrop implants they have been reintroduced under various names such as contour or anatomic and always turn out to be a disaster.

Answer: Implant size and type Dear Madbrac, breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals. Answer: Breast augmentation and implant types I have always preferred the round smooth implant for breas augmentation placed " under the muscle" which tends to give a very nice natural shape and protects against capsular contracture. The shaped or teardrop implants sound good but are all textured surface implants which are now associated with a health care consequences so have largely been abandoned in the US. The most important factor in a " natural" result is the implant size so be careful with sizing to achieve the result you want but not to big an implant that it becomes so obvious ( although admittedly some patients want that look ). We always work with the patient on implant size which is critical to a successful outcome.. Dr. Price

Answer: Round is better Shaped implants have to have textured surfaces to try to prevent rotation. That doesn't always work and texturing is asscoiated with the rare ALCL cancer. Conservative profile rounds look every bit as "natural" as shaped implants in large studies.
