Can Emsculpt help with stretched abdominal muscles? I have very little separation, mostly just muscle laxity (Photo)

I’ve already tried cooltone. It gave me marginal improvement after doing 2 packages of 5 sessions each. I’m scheduled to get a mini TT and MR in mid April so I’m just making sure I shouldn’t consider this. I’m 5’5, 118 lbs, and very fit.

I believe you would be the optimal candidate for EmSculpt of the abdomen. The muscle toning and body contouring would help to tighten the muscles and eliminate what little separation you have. We have had some success treating men and women with abdominal muscle separation (diastasis recti) that were in much worse shape than you.

you can get improvement with morpheus, thermage, and trusculpt FLEX in office in combination. otherwise a tummy tuck/lipo is needed.

my whole practice is doing lipoabdominoplasty, or at least liposuction with internal heating (which is not the gold standard for skin tightening with body contouring).

the smaller you are before liposuction the more contouring you can get from the procedure. most of my liposuction patients get pre and post surgical optimization with hormonal therapy (see link to help boost their weight loss before surgery and help them heal after).

You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best.  Traditional liposuction awake and smart liposuction are old methods and do very poorly for tightening skin or significant skin tightening or contouring.  Small problem areas can be improved slightly by these methods.  The best in body contouring not only removes fat with energy devices like VASER ultrasound but also internally heat the skin with radio-frequency devices such as J PLASMA/RENUVION, InMode BodyTite, ThermiRF to heat the under surface of the skin and tighten it at the same time as fat removal. These combinations are called 4D HIDEF VASER contouring and can only be done by a well . trained body contouring specialist. At the same time fat should be harvested, PRP and stem cells added and injected into muscles or indentations/cellulite to get body shaping and contouring.  This is known as a Brazilian butt lift when you inject the fat to the buttock for contouring and lifting, but fat can also be used in areas such as the chest/breast, arms/shoulders, calves and face.  Cellulite should also be treated with cellfina, sculptra, subcision and/or fillers such as bellafill, renuva synthetic fat, or sculptra.  If skin is very loose before surgery then it will need to be removed such as lower abdominal skin (tummy tuck/abdominoplasty), breast skin (breast lift), arm skin (brachioplasty).  Overall you need a full assessment, but simple liposuction alone will not tighten skin and needs a combination of various methods -- fat removal, skin tightening, defining, fat grafting, skin removal -- to get the best in body contouring and body sculpting.  Dr. Emer.

You have obvious diastasis rectus or at least fascia stretch in you lower abdomen I am sure from pregnancy. Just make sure your surgeon is going to tighten the laxity when you have your tummy tuck and you will have a flat abdomen. Sorry you wasted money on the nonsurgical treatments. Good luck.

Thank you for your question and posting your pictures. We have seen some significant reductions of diastasis recti of the abdominal muscles. I had a grade III separation and after 5 treatments, I can not longer appreciate the separation that I experienced previously. Emsculpt Neo is much more effective than the classic Emsculpt for tightening the abdominal muscles. Of course, results will vary from patient to patient.

If it’s muscle laxity and lack of definition and tone that worries you I think the Emsculpte would be perfect. 
I would lean towards an EmSculpt NEO as that gives additional benefits of skin tightening which will help with the laxity.
I also think EMsculpt delivers a value compared to other technologies in this arena.

Emsculpt is temporary muscle strengthening. I don’t think that is going to do the job for you. Typically I don’t recommend muscle tightening in conjunction with a mini tell me a tech because the surgeon only has access to the muscle below the belly button. This can cause the upper abdomen to bulge from tightening the lower abdomen only. In your case it looks like only the lower abdomen bulges so unless over done this may work in your case.

If someone is going to have muscle tightening then the only difference between a mini tummy tuck in the fall it’s repositioning the belly button. At this point you may consider just doing a full tummy tuck.

Remember mini mini is a “mini”

That means patients should expect mini results.
