What is more effective in reducing hair, ND Yag or the Lightsheer Duet Diode laser?

I have heard good things about both lasers. But I want to get my money's worth. Which is better in removing the hair quick and effectively? I have a Asian skin type between 4-5 on the dermatology scale. And have dark hair. I worry that each clinic I visit use one or the other so their advise is biased. I really want to have a good and successful treatment.

Hi Sandy.  We have been using both wavelengths of lasers for more than a decade and have performed tens of thousands of laser treatments on Asian skin because we are in Torrance.  As important as your skin type is the thickness of the hair.  The Yag wavelength works well on very COARSE hair, but falls short with medium or fine hair.  If you are an Asian female, then it is very, very likely that you will be better off with the Diode laser than the Yag.With that said, consumers that are new to laser hair removal believe that as long as the technology is a good match for your skin that they will get good results.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  The way in which the procedure is performed will determine whether it is safe and effective for you and there is nothing that replaces experience in that equation. We use both lasers in our office and they both work well.  The YAG laser is safer for someone with darker skin.  We tell all our patients to avoid getting a tan prior to laser treatment.   We use more than one laser because laser hair removal is not a one size fits all type of treatment.  If you go to a reputable and experienced laser doctor, he/she should be able to provide professional guidance on which laser would be best for you given your skin and hair type.
