Does Canthoplasty have to make eyes appear smaller?

or can it just be used to open the outer corners for already relatively big doe eyes? (not wanting to change from doe to cat but just wanting to re open the outer corners which seem to have closed a little overtime/ with age ... thank you!

Dear Luvluv,

Thank you for your question. In my opinion, canthoplasty is not a stand alone procedure. It is an additional procedure with a lower eyelid lift/Blepharoplasty.  The purpose of a canthoplasty is to maintain the position and tone of your eyelid to protect the eyeball and direct tears correctly. Having said that,  if you're in need of a blepharoplasty and have a larger eye eventually that procedure if necessary, preserve the natural contours of your eye and at worse there may be minimal change to the opening between the upper and lower eyelids that give you a slightly smaller appearance. It should never be performed to take someone to a "Cat" eye. Just my opinion.
