About to get Botox... Should I stop with Frownies, which I've been wearing nightly for several months?

I've been using those Frownies for a few months. They're the nightly adhesive tape-like sheets that train you not to frown while you sleep. They work a little, but I wanted something more drastic like Botox. I want to know if I should stop using these Frownies ASAP b/c my Botox appointment is next week, or can I continue wearing them in spite of having Botox injections? Thanks...

You should most definitely stop wearing anything on your face with adhesive.  It will not prevent you from making wrinkles.  It can damage the skin.  Get the Botox as planned.

Hi Cici.  After Botox, you will not need the Frownies any more.  It's unlikely that they are providing you any benefit, but it doesn't matter as after your injections you should not be able to frown, which will make the Frownies obsolete. Frownies will not affect your botox injections.  I suggest going to someone very experienced who is trained in botox and wrinkle treatments.  Frownies are not that useful and would be something to discuss at your cosmetic consultation.  Best, Dr. Emer.

It will be better to stop using them, so the surgeon or dermatologist who will inject the Botox, can have a better idea on how strong the muscles are.

There is no good scientific evidence showing that the adhesives you use provide any type of benefit. On the other hand, there is significant evidence showing that botulinum toxin (Botox) is an extremely effective (and safe) option for treating the wrinkles you wish to reduce.I would say, discontinue using the adhesives, and for your Botox, make sure you are seeing a clinician with experience treating facial wrinkles.

Personally, I think that Frownies will not do you any good if you've decided to move forward with Botox. The movement that Frownies aim to reduce is the same movement that Botox will eliminate for 3-4 months. With that said you can continue to use Frownies while receiving Botox if you choose to do so.
