When liposuction is performed, I know doctors are able to remove a maximum of 10 pounds. However, with BBLs, can more fat be taken out since some of it will be re-injected into the buttock area?
Answer: BBL It's recommended not to remove more than 5L of fat even if the fat is re-injected. The risk of complications increase if more fat is removed. For your safety, it's better to stay below 5L of fat. Make sure you see a board certified plastic surgeon for this surgery.

Answer: BBL and maximum fat removal: can more fat be taken out? Thank you for your question. While you can liposuction several areas at once there is a limit to how much fat can be removed safely. Risks from liposuction increase significantly when over 5 liters of fat are suctioned out. We usually stay below this limit for patient safety. We’ve found that we’re able to achieve dramatic improvements for our patients with 2 to 4 liters of liposuction, depending on their needs. That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. Best is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.

Answer: Liposuction limits The generally accepted safe limits of liposuction volume is 5 liters (although recent studies suggest this hard limit may actually vary with BMI). This number may vary somewhat from state to state or region to region. These recommendations, however, are not arbitrary. They are ultimately based upon studies of post operative liposuction patients and the subsequent fluid shifts that occur after large volume procedures. For this reason, overnight monitoring in a hospital is recommended when these limits are exceeded. It is also important to remember that this is not a pure fat aspirate i.e. 11 lbs. or 5 liters is not the equivalent of 11 lbs of pure fat. Additionally, some fat can be expected to be lost during processing. Thus, it is not possible, outside of a hospital setting to harvest and transfer 12 lbs of pure fat aspirate (>> 5 liters of lipoaspirate). Whether fat is re-injected or not is irrelevant. The issue is more a function of fluid shifts more than actual fat removal. As always, it is best to discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Answer: BBL and fat removal Some states have mandatory maximums and others are not as specific. In general, 5 liters is the number, and that has nothing to do with what is injected back in.

Answer: Limits of fat removal during liposuction there are different limits imposed for safety reasons when it comes to the maximum recommended amount of fat removed during liposuction. when performing a bbl - these limits are typically not increased. variations based upon where the surgery is performed (hospital, surgery center, office, etc), your overall health, geographic location, type of anesthesia used, etc, can also influence and factor into the amount removed. discuss the specifics with your plastic surgeon based upon where and how your surgery will be performed.
