I will be traveling from Atlanta to Florida for bbl and am wondering if driving would be better since lm not supposed to sit after bbl. I'm staying in Florida 7-10 days. I've heard horrible plane ride stories...which wouldbest for keeping bbl results, flying or driving?
Answer: AVOID TRAVELING THE FIRST 8 WEEKS AFTER BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT SURGERY. Hello Nina195, I appreciate your questions! Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is the aesthetic procedure opted by many of my patients who desire a fuller, more rounded backside. In my experience, adequate post-operative care is vital to positively impact the final outcome. I would strongly suggest you avoid travelling at least the first 8 weeks after surgery, to minimize the risk for post-operative complications. Putting pressure on your butt by sitting down or laying on it, especially for long periods of time, can stiffen, deform and even cause the transplanted fat cells to be reabsorbed. In the case you can’t absolutely elude getting in a plane, I would recommend you sitting in a modified position, placing a bolster or rolled-up towel under the back of the thighs while sitting down, as to avoid significant pressure. Also, there is a variety of post BBL surgery support cushions available on the market. Moreover, your surgeon may prescribe you an anti-coagulant medication to prevent a deep venous thrombosis when you travel, especially for long flights. Good luck and may God help you! Dr. De La Cruz.

Answer: Driving in an SUV for 10hours or flying for 2 hours, which is better after bbl? I think the most important factor is that you’re going to stay local after your surgery so you can be strictly adherent to not sitting for that period of time to allow the fat to take. Then the most important thing is to have frequent ambulation and moving around and stay well hydrated. As for your driving or flying I think you would be better off to fly as it is a lot safer than traveling laying down in a car as you cannot be restrained properly and you would not want to sit for that long of a drive. Again the most important thing is for you to walk frequently and to stay hydrated and so I would board the plane at the very last minute and do a lot of walking in the airport prior to boarding the plane and continue to wear your antiembolic stockings and use a cushion in order to unload the weight on your buttocks while flying and make sure you get up as often as you can on the flight and walk up and down the isles.

Answer: Driving in an SUV for 10hours or flying for 2 hours, which is better after bbl? Each surgeon has a slightly different post op protocol. I recommend my patients not to sit for the first two weeks after surgery, and then use a special pillow for sitting for short durations. Flying for two hours seems easier than driving for 10 hours. Make sure to walk around and use a pillow to sit when necessary to reduce the pressure on the buttocks.

Answer: Travel after BBL Long travel whether it’s by air or car right after a major procedure like a BBL is not a great idea. If you have to, make sure you move around, pump your legs and get up and down. Take breaks. Hydrate as previously suggested.
