dear petrap123,you should wait until the scars are fully healed. It can take up to 12/18 months until the scars fully mature. You can use silicone based creams to try to reduce the scars. Later you can try laser treatments.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MSCertified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
Incision lines will mature at one year; as such I would not consider tattooing any incision lines until then.
Hello and thank you for your excellent question. In general, I recommend that patients wait 3 months before undergoing any tattoos. Of course, you will need an in-person consultation to evaluate you for this procedure. Preoperative visualization and surgical simulation with the Crisalix system may help with your decision. Any treatment plan should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation in person with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!
