It goes without saying I should talk to my PS. I saw him at 4wk post op and he wasn't very concerned, he said it could be many things, accumulated blood, scar tissue, fibrosis, missed fat, etc but that it was still very early and we'd keep an eye on it. My next appt is in 6 weeks. I've had weekly or 2 x week lymphatic massages and ultrasounds and this has only become more noticeable. Is this common? What could it be? Will it go away on its own? How long?
Answer: Post op swelling 5weeks after liposuction I would be very surprised if you did not still have several areas of swelling. Your surgeon gave you a 6 week appointment since he knew that there is no immediate problem and most all this will go away in that 6 weeks. I would continue to wear some compression garments to help speed this along. Good luck.

Answer: Uneven after liposuction Dear lanu555, I would have to examine you but it appears that this is a contour irregularity after liposuction. This happens often when areas the undergo liposuction are not feathered appropriately. The good news is that it can be fixed and I have done so with good results before. The revision can often be done under local as well. While there is always a chance for contour irregularities with liposuction, someone who takes their time and uses the appropriate sized cannulas should give you a superb result.I have all my patients wear compression garments and I use multiple sized cannulas to feather out the result. Answer: Your options are limited and all you can really do is be patient and allow yourself to completely heal. Some of it may improve and some of it may not and need additional attention down the road. Your surgeon wants a better outcome for you but at this point in the game, there really isn't much anyone can do except for you to continue with your lymphatic massage and consider other modalities like Venus Legacy in an attempt to help smoothing out your contours. Continue with compression as tolerated and digitally massage any mounds to help flatten them and hope for the best.

Answer: Lumps of the Abdomen 5 Weeks After Liposuction Thank you for your question and photos. While it is common to have residual swelling at 5 weeks post-op, it does look like you are developing some contour irregularities. It's not too late to consider some deep tissue massages to help smooth out irregularities caused by scar tissue and edema. Some before photos would have helped to determine if skin laxity or excess fat pockets may be the source of your irregularities. If there is accumulated blood or fluid (hematoma or seroma), your surgeon could try to aspirate it. I would ask your surgeon for a follow up at 6-8 weeks post-op to monitor your progress and not wait 6 more weeks for a 10 week follow up. Definitely continue to wear your compression garments.

Answer: Lumps and bumps following liposuction Lumps bumps over the abdomen are apparent; you must not have undergone VASER liposuction which is the Gold Standard for abdominal etching 360 liposuction. The definitive correction for liposuction deformities requires the advanced technology of ultrasound assisted VASER liposuction. As an official trainer of VASER liposuction, I encounter suboptimal liposuction outcome referrals weekly. VASER liposuction has been the only modality that has consistently corrected liposuction caused deformities. VASER liposuction ensures a smooth contour regardless of severity of contour irregularities by virtue of being able to remove any and all remaining fat comprehensively and uniformly. Finally, when skin redundancy irregularities are observed, Renuvion technology can be simultaneously applied to tighten your skin to optimize your overall contour outcome. A Skype or Facetime consultation with a VASER specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD, FACS Realself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee
