Going on vacation with Invisalign. Need advise & tips!

You're going to have bad days here and there.  That is not going to spell doom for you.  If that set of aligners are still tight when you're supposed to change, just wear them a little longer until they're loose.  I wish all patients were as into their treatment as you are!  Have a blast!

Vacationing with Invisalign can be challenging.  The main focus is of course eating and drinking - what would vacation be without these fun forms of socializing and relaxing.  Straws are your best friend.  Use them and wear your aligner trays.  Stick to the lighter colored topical drinks if you can.  And if your plans take you out at night, dinner and dancing, your teeth and your treatment plan will survive.  Just count on a longer stretch with those aligners, instead of two weeks you might go three to get the correct  movement.  Something that will help - chewies!  The best kept secret in aligner wear.  All our patients get chewies - this is a tootsie roll shaped piece of polymer that you chew on, yes chew on with the aligners in -  really helps in keeping aligners on track, moving the teeth properly and can shorten time the entire process takes.  Ask your dentist for chewies - you have plenty of time for the office to order and get to you if you are not leaving until September.  Have a great trip and know you are asking the right questions at the right time - way in advance!
