Thanks for writing,The body has this great ability to heal itself and within the next 7-10 days the vessel will heal and continue to moved blood normally. The bruising under the skin is blood that is breaking down as the body absorbed it. The colours will becoming even prettier with time. You should do just fine, I hope this helps, Good luckStephen M. I would first like to reassure you that this is a common occurrence in the medical field and is mostly benign. bruising occurs from blood that leaked out of a ruptured vessel and causes discoloration, slight inflammation and possibly some pressure and pain. they can last from a few days to a couple weeks.  

First of all this bruising is not a serious issue.  You have bled under the skin and it takes several days to come to the surface which then leads to the bluish discoloration.  This discoloration will lighten over about 10 days on average and should completely resolve.  Ice for the first 48 hours helps followed by wet heat for several days.

Sometimes patients can develop phlebitis in the vein after a needle is inserted in their vein -- like for a blood draw or during a hospital stay. It is not serious. The main treatment for this issue is heat, compression and non-steriodal antiinflammatories like motrin. Heating pad to the arm 20 minutes three times a day and taking motrin (if you can) will help heal this a lot faster. Wrapping the area lightly with an ace wrap while heating it will help as well. It should resolve pretty quickly with a little "help". Good question. Good luck! 

While uncomfortable, this is not serious and will subside with time.  Some patients will see faster resolution of bruising with use of Dermaka cream.  Symptoms should get better in a few days.

Usually when blood is draw you get a poke and that is it. A slight bruise form occasionally,and resolved over a week.Your situation seems much more dramatic.
