How long to get back to lifting heavy weights after implant removal and capsulectomy?

hello i am scheduled for a breast implant removal with capsulectomy on the 8th of november. I have been lifting heavy weights and competing for about 2 years now, and by heavy i mean 135-155 on bench press and 225 squats and so on. i want to know how long after my surgery is it ok for my to start lifting heavy and eventually getting back to lifting the same amount of weight as before the surgery?

It generarally takes 6 weeks for wounds to get back to normal strength assuming no complications.  I generally tell patients that they can resume lower obdy exercises at 3 weeks but to wait 4 to 6 weeks for upper. that said I would go with the recommendations of your surgeon.

Thank you for your question.  Recovery after breast implant removal and capsulectomy is relatively minor compared to the recovery when you had your implants placed.  Most patients are able to return to normal activity certainly within a week.However weightlifting and the extreme physical activity that you  describe is a different matter.  I would suggest that he wait 3-4 weeks before weight lifting.
