Patients need to be seen individually in person to determine, even if it's the same skin condition, what the best treatment is for them.Ultherapy helps tighten the infrastructure, the dermis of the skin and lift the sagging facial features. Using more shallow penetrating transducers, this ultrasound inducing device, creates heat in the tissues below the epidermis. The more shallow 1.5mm. deep transducer may help fine wrinkles and creases and shallow acne scars, whereas certain scars need the 4.5 and 3mm deep transducers. However, the Ultherapy is not indicated for acne scars and the different depth transducers can be used to tighten up the sagging jowls, cheeks and other facial structures. The DermiPen is used at home to induce microtrauma to create collagen underneath the acne scars to build up new collagen and lift up the acne scars or fine wrinkles. I would caution patients to be wary of externally seen long term puncture sites from the dermipen that I have never seen with Ultherapy or Fraxel laser in my NYC practice. The information provided in Dr. Shelton's answer is for educational purposes only and is not intended to constitute medical advice.
