Why am I so ugly from the side? is it fixable? I think it's mainly the chin/nose. (photos)

Question

I am so self-conscious about my side profile that it controls my life. If I ever think I'm being looked at from the side I will immediately turn towards them. If there is a girl I'm attracted to I will do my best to never show myself from the side. Whenever I see my face from the side it can put me in a bad mood for the rest if the day. I think it's mainly the chin/nose and having a big head. Is there anything I can do about it?

Hello,Thanks for your question. Please let me be the first to say that if you are this unhappy about your appearance, you will need to see a psychologist before you ever have any cosmetic surgery. You are young and handsome. We all go through self-doubt so some of what you are feeling is normal. In other words, slight dissatisfaction is normal. What you are experiencing sounds like significant dissatisfaction, and this is NOT normal.That being said, if cleared by a psychologist, you could have a few things done to restructure your face. Your nose actually looks fine from the side so you would need to be able to describe to a surgeon what exactly bothers you about it. As far as the rest of your lower face is concerned, your chin and jaw are a bit small. You might benefit from mandibular implants and a chin implant. You would also benefit from injectable filler in your lower lip because is doesn't really show on profile.  The rest of your head looks to be normal size. Work will a facial cosmetic surgery specialist when the time is right and make sure you really communicate what it is that bothers you. If you cannot, then do not have surgery. You will only end up unhappy.Good luck,Dr. Shah

We all have things that we don't love about our face, but if this is putting you in a bad mood for the entire rest of the day, I think there may be other issues bringing you down.  Take some time for self reflection and talk to someone you trust before proceeding with surgery.

Thank you for the question and photos. I have to agree with my colleagues, you look good both in frontal and lateral views. I would not recommend any facial work, as you don't need it. Trust me when I say that unindicated surgery makes a patient even more dissatisfied in the long run. Best of Luck!
