You may want to do several consultTions to get different options. Your right front tooth looks like it is the ideal size. It looks like it is darker than the rest of your teeth???  If it is the same color, have a dentist place a veneer on the shorter tooth. Placing a single veneer on a front tooth is the MOST difficult procedure a dentist does. Find a good cosmetic dentist!

Do not allow anyone to shorten your other tooth.  You can't fix one tooth by shortening the other, unless you want two short teeth. From the picture the other tooth looks dark. The darkness needs to be investigated.  Perhaps that tooth was traumatized when the other was chipped.  Restoring both front teeth may be the way to go to get a symmetrical appearance and color.  Seek out a good cosmetic dentist in your area. You can look for a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry in your area on their website. 

You may want to consider consulting with your dentist about having a veneer placed on this tooth to repair it. A veneer can be made to match the adjacent tooth exactly. This will allow a sturdier repair of the situation.
