Can a parotid duct heal fully if it fills up and requires drainage? Does it return to its normal state after swelling settles?

Parotid ducts could either get inflamed or transected (cut) during a buccal fat removal procedure. If it gets inflamed (not cut), the saliva drainage could decrease or stop which translates in sweling of the parotid glad ( aka swollen cheek). In those cases once the inflammation has been resolved, the normal drainage of saliva usually gets restored. If the parotid duct is transected, only surgical repair restores the normal saliva drainage.
